Built on Solid Rock
Matthew 7:24
"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his on the rock."

In some places houses are built on what is called "expansive clay". This soil swells and shrinks, and it causes problems for many homeowners. It is not unusual to see cracks on both the inside and outside walls of the house. This causes a ton of issues with the house. Foundation problems develop slowly, but if they aren't addressed in a timely manner they are very costly.
A strong foundation is not only important for houses but even more so for our lives. This is true for believers. We have a responsibility to make sure we are developing a strong foundation in our own lives so we can build up not only our foundations but for our friends and future families. But how? Jesus was straightforward about it. it happens as we learn and follow the wisdom He has given us in the Bible. His words are like a solid rock for our lives, providing a strong and stable foundation when we know and do what He has said. But if we ignore His words or think they don't apply to us, we are sadly mistaken.
Many times every day we make a decision about whether we will follow God's wisdom or we will reject it. If we want to experience the life that Jesus came to give us, it is essential that we know not only what He says, but that we also put it into practice. That is the only way to have a strong foundation. Just like building a house, building a foundation is a process that develops over time. Build your foundation on the rock.
Do you have a strong foundation, or one that washes away?

Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for sending your son Jesus to set us free from sin. Lord help me trust your guidance and wisdom when I try to rely on myself. Guide and direct me to build a strong and stable foundation so that when the storm comes it will not be shaken. You are my strong hold and rock. Amen.
