Blinded By Wants

Read Mark 8:22-26
"Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly".
Today I want to focus on Mark 8:22-26. This was when Jesus healed the blind man. This is one of those events that we could simply overlook. This was another miracle that Jesus performed that was also mentioned in the book of Matthew and John. However, I love what Mark had to say about this event. Here is a man who has been blind his entire life. Imagine living your life unable to see but instead, being guided by someone else. Sounds pretty miserable right? That was until the hand of Jesus guided him that would change his life.
Often times we focus on what we want in our life, and not what God has planned for us. This usually leads to our minds and hearts being clouded or even blinded. Which leaves us with a longing for God. I was that way. In my high school days, I lived a life that was pleasing to me. I was active at church on Sundays but I trusted in myself and my plans with God being the option when I felt I needed him most not God. My plans went well until they didn't. I felt lost, and confused, and even questioned my faith. That was until Jesus got ahold of me on a mission trip in 2016 called Beach Reach. It was through someone I was witnessing that God used to help me to trust and to seek Him. Like the blind man, I was then able to see. Since that March night, my life changed. I knew I was saved, but I knew I was not living it. I'm not perfect and there are times my mind still gets clouded, but Jesus helps me see.
This may be your story. It is very easy to focus on the things you enjoy most such as sports, work, fishing, lake trips, or whatever it is that becomes an idol in your life. If we don't have that desire of following Jesus we can very quickly become spiritually blind. You may go to church on Sunday or Wednesday but that doesn't make you a better Christian just like when I go to Taco Bell doesn't make a Gordita Crunch. If your heart isn't in your spiritually walk will go dark. But I know a man that will take you by hand and open your eyes to see the plans, joy, and hope he gives. He can change you just as He has me. He truly is amazing.
Are you allowing the things you want to blind your relationship with God?
Pray:
God, thank you for walking this life with us and I am trusting the plans you have for me even when there are times I don't fully understand. I ask that if there is anything in my heart that is clouding or blinding my relationship with you that you show me those areas in my life.
